Dell Inspiron N5040, N5050, N5110, M5040, M5050, M5110 Laptop Screen Replacement

Our blog here will show you how to replace the cracked screen of Dell Inspiron N5040, N5050, N5110, M5040, M5050, M5110 Laptop notebooks. The screens for the mentioned laptops are 15.6 inches when mearsured diagonally and have resolution 1366 x 768. All the new screens now come with LED backlight.

This tutorial can be used if the below defect arises

1. You dropped your laptop and cracked the screen
2. The laptop suddenly goes dark or black
3. The laptop screen has coloured lines on it
4. The laptop LCD backlight is no longer functioning.

One thing most people get wrong is removing the laptop battery before carrying out the repair. It is important that the battery is removed.

Dell Screen Bezel

The Dell Inspiron N5040, N5050, N5110, M5040, M5050, M5110 Laptops do not come with any screws in the front but rather the bezel is held to the backcover by internal clips.

By using your fingers start pulling on all sides of the screen bezel carefully and start releasing the catches on the inside.

After removing the bezel you will find two screws at the top sides of the screen display. Unscrew them.

Carry out the same on the lower side. Use the image on the left as a guide.

Place the screen face-down to reveal the back of the panel. Below are part numbers that can fit the laptops

All the mentioned screens are fully compatible and interchangeable. Meaning that any of them can be used to fit the mentioned laptops.

Remove Screen Side Screws

Unscrew all the three side screws on each side of the hinges arms and keep them safe.

It is now time to remove the screen cable from the connection at the back of the screen. The connection is held together by clear tape and a holder. Raise the clear tape and the blue holder with a flat object and pull the connection apart.

You have now successfully removed the screen. Carry out the job in reverse to fit a new one.
